Getting contact Lenses without Prescription are forbidden by law
Although the sale of contact lenses are regulated by individual states one law that every state has is that you cannot buy or sell contact lenses without a prescription. Even if you have perfect vision and simply want to get color contacts or theatrical contacts for cosmetic reasons you can’t get contact lenses without a prescription. There is good reason for this law. Improperly fitted contacts lenses can cause serious damage to your eye. This damage can cause all manners of problems including blindness, which is not something anyone would willingly want to deal with. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued warnings against buying contact lenses without a prescription. The warnings issued by the FDA deal mainly with cosmetic contact lenses but they apply to everyone. You just should not buy contact lenses without a prescription for health reasons and because it simply against the law. You must visit your eye care doctor and have your eyes examined for proper fit, to determine what type/brand of lenses are right for you and to determine what type of replacement schedule would be right for you. Don’t take the chance of losing your vision just to save the money you would pay an eye care doctor. It just isn’t worth the risk.
